After having his minimally invasive IP acquired by Stryker in 2009, Jeff was instrumental in the development of ES2, one of Stryker’s most commercially successful minimally invasive spine systems, as well as their marquee lateral access platform, ARIA, and helped Stryker generate over $350M in revenue over a seven year period. His experience as a serial entrepreneur includes the successful launch, scalable growth, and ultimate acquisition of Advanced Biologics’ OsteoAmp platform to Bioventus (BVS) in 2014.
Jeff completed his complex and minimally invasive spine surgery fellowship training at Weill Cornell Medicine’s world-renowned Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC, MBA from the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business, and his M.Sc. from Columbia University.

Mark previously served as Senior IP Counsel at Intellectual Ventures where his team was responsible for managing all aspects of prosecution and asset maintenance for one of the world’s largest patent portfolios, with more than 30,000 assets and over $6 billion in investor capital.
Mark has practiced intellectual property law for over 20 years representing clients such as Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, STMicroelectronics, and Seagate.
Mark earned his BSEE and JD degrees from the University of Minnesota. He is a member of the Washington State Bar and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
David Flickinger
After leaving NuVasive in 2019, David joined Medicrea, a spine technology startup. There he led strategy and sales in pursuit of a near-term acquisition. The company was ultimately acquired by Medtronic in June of 2020 for $158M.
David is also the founder of Doc Social, a rapidly growing platform for physician education and collaboration which launched in December 2020.
Prior to a career in business, David was an Infantry Officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served as a Platoon Commander, and company-level Executive Officer. He completed his active duty service after 5 years, reaching the rank of Captain and receiving numerous awards for leadership.

As Washington’s 21st Governor from 1997-2005, the nation’s most trade dependent state, Mr. Locke expanded the sale of products and services by leading 10 productive trade missions to Mexico, Europe, and Asia. He successfully strengthened economic ties between China and Washington State, more than doubling the state’s exports to China to over $5 billion per year.
During his tenure, he achieved bipartisan welfare reform and oversaw the gain of 280,000 private sector jobs, despite two national recessions. Mr. Locke also had the most diverse cabinet in state history. And in filling judicial vacancies, more than half of his appointees were women and 25% were people of color. His accomplishments, management skills and innovations in government efficiency have won him acclaim by nationally recognized authors and organizations, including Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. During his time in office, Washington was ranked as one of the four best managed states in America.
Serving as the 36th Commerce Secretary from 2009-2011, he aggressively led the effort to implement President Obama's National Export Initiative to double American exports in five years; assumed a troubled 2010 Census process but which under his active supervision ended on time and substantially under budget, saving taxpayers $2 billion; and achieved the most significant reduction in patent application processing in the agency's history: from 40 months down to one year. Mr. Locke also oversaw a significant first step in the president’s export control reform effort that strengthened national security, while making U.S. companies more competitive by easing their licensing burden for high-tech exports to partners and allies.
As America’s 10th Ambassador to China from 2011-2014, he opened markets for made-in-USA goods and services; reduced wait times for visa interviews of Chinese applicants from 100 days to 3 days; and through the Embassy's air quality monitoring program, exposed the severity of the air pollution in China, causing the Chinese people to demand action by the government and the government in turn beginning to address the issue.
Mr. Locke began his career in public service upon his election to the Washington State House of Representatives serving from 1983-1994. He was then elected as King County Executive, serving from 1994-1997.
Mr. Locke graduated from Seattle's Franklin High School. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and is a recipient of the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award from the Boy Scouts of America. He attended Yale University, graduating with a Bachelor degree in political science and received his law degree from Boston University.

Formerly he served as Chief Interventional Fellow at Cleveland Clinic, where he spent several years as an interventional cardiologist and an Associate Professor of Medicine. Thomas E. Mroz, MD
Thomas E. Mroz, MD is the Director of the Center for Spine Health and Director of Spine Research at Cleveland Clinic. He is a board-certified Spine Surgeon in the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery, Neurological Surgery and the Center for Spine Health at Cleveland Clinic. He graduated from Case Western Reserve University and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Cleveland, Ohio. He is very active in research, and has lectured nationally and internationally on minimally invasive surgery and cervical spine surgery. He has authored numerous research articles and textbook chapters, and serves as a reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals. He is a member in good standing in the North American Spine Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Benedict Nwachukwu, MD, MBA
Dr. Nwachukwu has extensive experience caring for athletes. He currently serves as a team physician with the New York Liberty (WNBA) professional basketball team, as well as a medical consultant to the National Basketball Player's Association (NBPA). He has been a team physician for the Chicago Bulls, Chicago White Sox, and DePaul Athletics. As an undergraduate at Columbia, Dr. Nwachukwu was a four-year starter on the men's basketball team and as such, has a passion for working with athletes and individuals motivated to stay in the game.
Dr. Nwachukwu's clinical and research interests are focused on returning athletes to sport as well as joint preservation. Specific areas and procedures include: hip arthroscopy, hip labral repair and reconstruction, anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and repair, articular cartilage repair and transplantation, meniscus repair & transplantation, arthroscopic shoulder stabilization/labrum repair and arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. Dr. Nwachukwu has researched joint preservation techniques and incorporates stem cells and biologics in the management of musculoskeletal disorders.
Dr. Nwachukwu currently has over 250 published peer reviewed publications. His research has been nationally recognized throughout his career. As a medical student, Dr. Nwachukwu was given the Janee and Paul Friedmann, MD '59 Surgery prize – awarded to the top student going into a surgical specialty and he graduated cum laude for excellence in orthopaedic research. As a surgical resident, Dr. Nwachukwu was awarded the Lewis Clark Wagner, MD, Chief Resident Award for Excellence in Orthopaedic Clinical Research. He has also been awarded numerous professional society awards and he has been awarded various research grants to support his advancement of orthopedic science.
